On average, expect to pay $0.60–$1.60 per square foot for exterior painting. The average for painting labor across the country is $30–$40 per hour before you pay for paint, painting supplies, location costs, and equipment. To get a very general estimate, though, painting contractors will take into account the square footage of your home and the number of stories and also factor in normal prep work. Great experience. I had Rigo handle my 3 daughters' rooms and their bathroom - 500 sq ft total with 9 foot angled ceilings. He painted the walls with 2 colors per room, white for the ceilings, and re-painted the trim. Rigo was honest and helpful. He will under-promise and over-deliver. Very punctual and always moving. I think he took 20 minutes to eat out of 1.5 days. If you talk to Rigo, he can do a LOT more than just painting. He showed me a project where he hung kitchen lights and "removed" a tray ceiling - looked like it had never been there. He had also just finished a turnkey outdoor covered patio project, with ceiling fan mounted onto a solid wood beam that looked fantastic. Can't wait to have more money so I can have him paint the rest of my interior. And build a covered patio in my back yard... Broomfield Home Painting
Prep work should include removing all loose paint, either with a pressure washer or by scraping; removing any trace of mildew using bleach and water or a commercial solution, and sealing or covering dark stains; caulking all seams, corners and around windows or trim; applying epoxy filler to repair serious woodwork problems; covering dark stains; sanding all rough surfaces, and priming the bare wood with a bonding primer. Stripping – $54–$151/100 sq. ft.. “The principle of paint strippers is penetration of the paint film by the molecules of the active ingredient, causing its swelling; this volume increase causes internal strains, which, together with the weakening of the layer's adhesion to the underlying surface, leads to separation of the layer of the paint from the substrate.”— Wikipedia. All the stripper will do is soften the paint. You’ll still have to scrub or scrape it off. House Painter Broomfield Colorado
